Monster List of Free Keyword Research Tools

Keyword Research Tools

Keywords are the foundation to the Internet.
There is a person behind every search.  He is looking for something particular. Almost every action on the Internet begins with someone typing a keyword or key phrase into a major search engine such as Google or Yahoo.

Almost every web page gets indexed by Google or Yahoo at one point or another.  They will rank your page based on keyword density based on the content of the web page and which keywords you used.  They will also look at the anchor text.  The anchor text is the phrase you have highlighted and usually underlined in blue, that points to the web page. If you want to succeed in marketing your website, you need to develop really good keyword research skills and keyword building strategies.

Here is the list I promised:

Google Keyword Tool (Free)

This is the best FREE keyword research tool on the Internet. There isn’t a better place
to look for keyword data. Google also shows you the search volumes for each keyword or phrase.  This tool is land Google provides you with a wealth of keyword information.

Good Keywords (Free and Paid version)

This tool also includes a misspelled keyword feature, which is great considering almost 10% of search queries are misspelled. The free version has key features such as a keyword organizer, site popularity gauge and a user-friendly keyword research interface.

Traffic Travis (Free and Paid Version)

This is an excellent keyword research tool. The free version of this tool is almost as good as the paid version. They didn’t hold much back, here. Although this tool isn’t perfect, you will learn a great deal by using it. They also supply videos to assist you in learning how to use the tool. These videos are embedded and plan if you think you need them.

KWBrowse.com (Free)

This tool is especially helpful if you are looking for a niche. It will supply you with keywords that are related to the keywords that you enter. They will be closely related to the keywords you enter, but will be in a slightly different niche. You have to use this tool.

SpyFu.com (Free and Paid version)

I really like this tool. It tells you which keywords that your competitors are bidding on. This will help you to see which sites are competing in the niche you are considering also. You need to spend some time using SpyFu and researching different sites. There is an amazing amount of information you can glean from this site for free. They do have a full version that is expensive. It is $279 annually which equates to just a little over $23 per month.

WordPot.com (Free and Paid Version)

This is a great keyword research tool that gives you related search terms with their daily estimated search volumes. It is much faster than the competition, if this matters to you. This keyword research tool also provides you with synonyms and associated keywords for the keyword that you want to generate a list for. This will be helpful in your search for a niche.

SEO Book Keyword Suggestion Tool (Free)

You will find a number of tools on this site. Almost all of them are free, so spend some time
here. You need to learn everything you can about a niche before you enter it.

Wordtracker.com (Free and Paid Version)

WordTracker has been around for a long time. It has a great market share too. It is good,
but, you need to look at many of the competitors first. If WordTracker suits your needs, then, it may be the one for you.

Quintura.com (Free)

Quintura is a visual search engine that is similar to KWBrowse.com. Quintura uses a different method than you will see other keyword research tools. It may be just what you need to get your right
brain working for you.

AdCenter Labs (Free)

MSN provides this tool to you to help with their search engine. It is an especially good
tool for helping you to really visualize your niche.

Spacky.com (Free)

This research tool is a little different. It does a search of Google, Yahoo and MSN at the same time. The results are always different, and this can be helpful to you. Spacky even allows you to download the keywords into a text file for easy copying and pasting.

TheDowser.com (Free and Paid Version)

This tool is unusual in the sense that you can research words in different languages. They have Russian, Italian, Spanish, German, and French databases as well as 77 million English terms.

Keyword Tools

Google Insights (Free)

This Google tool is not like any you have seen. The most important use of it, I think, is to compare search volume patters across specific regions and time frames. You can also compare the keyword research over time. You will want to look for a niche that is growing over time rather than one where the search volume is decreasing.

KeywordExtend.com (Free)

This is not technically a keyword research tool. Keyword Extend is a tool you can use if you are doing advertising with Google Adwords. It can save you hours of time by creating variations of the keyword phrases with quotes around them or the brackets around them. This is a time consuming job that is really well suited to a tool.

GoRank (Free)

GoRank is a really good SEO tool that helps your determine the relevancy of your web pages based on certain keywords. You will use this after you have created a page. It will tell you how well you have done, in a sense. If you really want to drive a lot of natural SEO traffic to your web sites, you must add this tool to your list of tools.
